Way back in the early 80’s whilst at college studying textile design, Caran d’Ache pencils were the mark of a designer, if you were using them, you were “serious about design”. I loved my Prismalo range offering what seemed like a huuuuuuge range of 40 colours that were water soluble, that blew my mind. Little did I know then, that Caran d’Ache already had a long, long history of R&D. These products were new to the UK and were exciting.
Jackson’s Art Supplies invited Carole Hübscher, CEO, and Eric Vitus, R&D Fine Arts Director of Caran d’Ache, to talk about the history of the iconic Geneva-based company. To also delve into the complex process of producing quality colour pencils, the science behind their exceptional product ranges and the company ethos. Here is the interview which oozes passion for quality, purity of colour and value placed on its workforce.
